Brad Smith Motorsports Press Release!
CAR READY, BRAD SMITH LOOKS FORWARD TO TALLADEGA RACE!
Tallladega Superspeedway – Talladega, AL – April 21, 2010
Driver For ApplianceZone.com Racing Suffered Burns There In 2003
Corydon, Indiana – Brad Smith, driver of ApplianceZone.com Racing’s #26 Ford in the ARCA series, says he’ll have the right car at the right place when officials give the “start your engines” command at Friday’s Talladega ARCA 250 at Talladega Superspeedway.
Following mechanical setbacks at every race so far this year, he’s ready to get the monkey off his back. “Talladega is the biggest and fastest in the series,” Smith says, “and it’ll be great to run that track with a race ready car …decent engine, upgraded transmission and Gene Patient body –Gene fabricates for NASCAR and ARCA top racing series.”Clearly frustrated by poor performances at Daytona, Palm Beach, Salem and Texas,
Smith hopes the Talladega car will end the rut and give him a fresh outlook on the 2010 racing season.Said Smith: “After Palm Beach, we were joking about the stuff that can happen to ruin my day at the track –transmission failure, rain, shortage of help in the pit, loose wire connection and so on—and how it happens to me just like it happens to the people that buy parts from my sponsor, ApplianceZone.com.
Their ovens don’t work on Thanksgiving or their refrigerator goes down when it’s full of groceries.
There’s always going to be little aggravations in life. But hopefully there won’t be any big ones at Talladega.”Smith has had some of his best and worst moments there. Good lead lap finishes, coming in at 13th, 14th and 15th, but also had an oil line failure in 2003 that started a fire, required a helicopter ride to the burn unit and six months of recovery time.
Talladega Superspeedway is a 2.66 mile paved tri-oval with turns banked at 33 degrees and 2-degree straightaways. The Talladega ARCA 250 will be aired on SPEED TV beginning 5:00 p.m. Eastern.
